NEWS

April 2012

Lots of good things going on with Chris Murray Combo these days. We're making great progress lately with recording our new album, which is sounding awesome!

On Monday, April 16 we're opening for Madness at Club Nokia in LA, and we are very excited about that too!

And, a fan (who is a film director) has made a video for "We Do The Ska" using footage he found online. It looks amazing, and we're having a video premiere event this Wednesday (April 18) at 11am Pacific time.

The video can be viewed at:
http://youtu.be/DgrRdorXiLE

The link will be made public at 11am (pacific) on Wednesday, April 18.

In other news, I'm heading back to the UK later this month to perform at the London International Ska Festival, a four day event which has an incredible bill this year. I'll be playing some club dates the week preceding the festival.

In late May and early June I'll be touring across Canada with The Fundamentals, an excellent band from Montreal. We'll each be performing our own sets, and also performing a collaborative set. I'm looking forward to it!

January 2012

Happy 2012 everyone! Hope your new year is off to a great start.

Chris Murray Combo spent New Year's Eve rocking out with Deal's Gone Bad in Chicago, the first trip there for the group and a very rowdy and fun night! Big thanks to DGB for bringing us out!

Bluebeat Lounge returns Wednesday, January 11 for our next event in conjunction with the nice and decent people at Dub Club. Chris Murray Combo, Boss 501 and Penny Reel will rule the live room as the Dub Club crew spins and chats downstairs - all for $5, free before 10pm!!

Click here to visit the official event page on Facebook for full details!!

Chris Murray Combo is currently recording our second album these, which features all unreleased original material and is going to be totally awesome! Be sure I'll be spreading the word when it's available for purchase.

Until then, if you don't yet own a copy of our debut album, Why So Rude, please visit the Unstrictly Roots website to make a purchase you will not regret, and that will also help the band members, who all rely solely on music-related income for survival, to survive.

If you're in SoCal next Wednesday, hope to see you at Dub Club!

December 2011

Hope you are all having a great December. Here's this month's installment of my email list!

CMC has been playing all ages Sunday afternoon shows at The Commonwealth in Newport Beach, CA recently and encouraging our fans who have kids to bring them out. These shows are both mellow and a lot of fun.

For the past few months Chris Murray Combo have been working on our second album, and it is sounding great so far! Projected release is for spring 2012. More details will be announced when available.

Big news for CMC is our first ever show in Chicago - thanks to the good folks at Deal's Gone Bad for bringing us out! We really don't leave southern California very often, so if you're in the midwest, this is a rare opportunity to see Chris Murray Combo perform live.

Earlier this year I produced an album for The Bricks, a 10-piece ska band led by Dan Potthast of MU330 glory. Seriously, the album turned out amazing and is now available through www.asianmanrecords.com

One final note, a benefit track in support of the rebuilding Japan post-earthquake/tsunami is now available. All proceeds will go towards building three small live venues in areas completely destroyed by the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011. Please check out this track at www.facebook.com/punkskaunity

Alright, have a great holiday season. Best wishes for a happy, healthy and productive 2012!

August 2011

Happy August everyone!

Good news - Chris Murray Combo is currently in the studio working on our second album. No release date to announce at this time, but we are making progress and will let you all know when it's done.

By the way, there's now a CMC-specific fan page on Facebook. Come on by and like us!
http://www.facebook.com/chrismurraycombo

I now have a 16 track analog home studio, which is where the combo is recording. The very first finished product is a one-off track entitled Moose In A Maple Tree, a Canadianized version of The 12 Days Of Christmas. It turned out great and features Ray Jacildo (piano/vocals) and Matt Morrish (sax) of English Beat, Josh Duron of Umo Verde on drums, and Chiquis on bass.

This track will be included in a compilation being assembled to promote a kids book by the same name. I'll give more details on that release when available.

More big news - the second edition of Bluebeat Lounge at Dub Club is now confirmed for Wednesday, September 9 and will feature Chris Murray Combo, The Expanders and The Hashishans. Please drop by the Facebook event page for full details:

June 2011

I have just returned from my 10th tour of the UK, this time accompanied by Babar Luck and Liam O'Kane, both lovely people and excellent artists.

Next on the agenda, following some local dates, is a trip to Canada for the 12th Annual Victoria Skafest, the longest running ska festival in North America. I'll be backed by The New Victorians, an excellent group that formed the last time I was in Victoria, which features Jules Chaz (drums), Christian Stevenson (bass), Sam Tallo (guitar) and Ashley Wey (keyboards). I toured with Jules and Christian across Canada in 2002 as Chris Murray Combo, before there was a Chris Murray Combo in LA, and have done many many tours with Sam. This will be our first live appearance (the first of many I hope), and I'm very excited to head back to Victoria.

May 2011

I've rediscovered the desire for an online place of my own a little homier than Myspace and Facebook, more like a comfy cottage than a small box in a huge apartment building. And so, I'm updating this website for the first time in more than a year!

As of now, my tour dates are complete and accurate through the end of July!

That said, feel free to join me at the following hip spots:
myspace.com/chrismurray
facebook.com/chrismurrayroots
twitter.com/wedotheska
reverbnation.com/chrismurray

and to purchase my music at unstrictlyroots.com!

December 2009

November was all about touring in Europe. I spent one week in Granada, Spain rehearsing with Red Soul Community for our appearance at the All Reggae For The People festival, which was great! Big thanks to Reggae Warrior Crew and Red Soul Community for all their hard work and great vibes.

After Spain I spent three weeks touring with Babylove & The Van Dangos from Copenhagen, who are an amazing band and great folks to tour with. I also wrote and recorded a song with Steve Borth of Satori and now Dub Defender, produced by Pato and with appearances by Babylove members. There is still some finishing to be done on the track, but it is sounding very cool.

Barely back in California and I was down to San Diego county for two shows backed by Adam, Jordan and Sean of Social Green. We have two shows December 1, then I'll be playing two shows with Chris Murray Combo, featuring Ben and Chiquis.

December 11 I leave for two and a half weeks touring in Brazil, which I'm very excited about. On this tour I'll be performing 8+ shows backed by three different backing units, which should be hectic and amazing all at once. Not a bad way to finish up a busy year!!

October 2009

Yard Sale is now available!! To order your copy, visit www.unstrictlyroots.com

The final Bluebeat Lounge all venue event was really amazing - much more than a show!! There is no solid plan for Bluebeat Lounge at this time, but know that I will put the word out when there is something to report.

October 2009

There is a lot of news!! First of all, to catch up. This summer I took a little break from being on the road all the time, but I still did some cool traveling, playing in Texas, Monterrey, British Columbia, plus making my 8th UK tour and second visit to Ireland.

The fall is shaping up to be a busy time for touring. I just returned from my 4th Japan tour, which finished with an appearance at Skaville Japan 2009, where I played solo to a crowd of 2500+ screaming, dancing, cheering Japanese ska fans. This ranks very near the top of my all time favorite live performing experiences.

Next up, I go to Canada this weekend for the first ever Montreal Ska Festival and a show in Toronto. At the end of October I perform at the All Reggae For The People festival in Granada, Spain backed by Red Soul Community, followed by several weeks of touring through Europe with Babylove & Van Dangos of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Big news is that Knitting Factory has announced they are closing their Hollywood location at the end of October, bringing to a close the almost seven year run of weekly Bluebeat Lounge shows at KFLA. There is an amazing all venue event planned for Friday, October 23 featuring 15 excellent bands.

Bluebeat has been perhaps the most stable and consistent element in my life over the past 7 years and I am very thankful for the opportunity to have presented so many shows and worked with so many great people and bands. It has been an honor and a privilege.

At this point there is no definite plan to relocate Bluebeat Lounge to another venue, but I am confident Bluebeat will continue in one form or another in the future.

And perhaps the biggest news is my new album, Yard Sale, to be released later this month. Including 20 tracks recorded during the 15 years I have now called LA home, Yard Sale features a wide variety of sounds, and some amazing collaborations with many of the fine musicians I have been fortunate to work with through this time, including Lloyd Knibb, Lloyd Brevett and Cedric Brooks of The Skatalites, Brian Dixon and Jeff Roffredo of The Aggrolites, Vic Ruggiero and Jay Nugent of The Slackers and many many more.

More information about Yard Sale will be made available very soon!!

June 2009

So far, 2009 has been a year of transition. In sad news, Ben Farrar has left CMC and all the groups he was playing with to focus on other things in life. He is greatly missed.

Currently drumming for CMC is Devon Seufert of The Roundabouts, who is doing a great job and rocking harder every week.

I've done a fair bit of travel this year with one UK tour, two trips to Mexico, plus jaunts to Seattle, the midwest and Texas already under my belt. I'll be sticking close to home over the next two months.

Upcoming plans include Victoria Ska Festival in July, UK dates in August, Montreal Ska Festival in October and Europe dates in November.

On a reflective note, I would like to send a blanket thank you to all the people out there in the world who I have crossed paths with over my many years of touring. It is only through the support of many that I am able to survive doing something I truly love.

November 2008

2008 has been a great year. Chris Murray Combo released our first album (big thanks to Victor Rice!!), and a fantastic video for Love Flame, thanks to the tireless work of the fabulous J. Mack. As well, CMC toured in Japan for the third time and in Korea for the first time.

I also did a lot of solo touring, traveling to Brazil, New Orleans, Mexico, Colombia, the UK, and playing some western US cities with English Beat. Thanks to everyone who was cool on the road. The music gets me out there, and the people make it all worthwhile.

Already 2009 is looking to be a busy year. I'll be hitting the road again in January, returning to Mexico for three shows with Brixton Sounds, an excellent young group from Oaxaca. In Feruary, I'll be returning to the UK followed by three weeks of dates in Europe. Show details to be posted asap.

Bluebeat Lounge has completed its sixth year of great weekly ska and reggae shows. Thanks to Robin Strauss, Knitting Factory and all the great acts who played at Bluebeat this year.

The Bluebeat Lounge 6th anniversary show will be held on Saturday, January 24 in the Knitting Factory main space and the line-up is stellar: Joey Altruda's Classic Riddims, Viernes 13, Chris Murray Combo, Raskahuele, The Ifficials and Reg-A-Matic Sound System!!

October 2008

I just came home from the UK, which was excellent. Many many people deserve thanks, but special thanks to Sonic Boom 6 for bringing me over for the tour and being so cool!

Some cool news - We Do The Ska has been covered by popular UK act The King Blues as a b-side on their single for My Boulder. The single has been receiving strong airplay on Radio 1 and The King Blues have been receiving a lot of attention from both the UK ska scene and the media/music industry overall.

I'm planning to put some energy into recording over the next couple of months and to spend some time at home after three tours in two months. Good news - home has not gone away!

September 2008

Chris Murray Combo has just returned from 9 shows in Japan and 2 shows in Seoul, Korea!! Big thanks to Akira at Ska In The World and Jon and Jung in Seoul for all their hard work and for taking such great care of CMC while on the road. Both tours were fantastic experiences. Great to see so many old friends and make so many new friends. We'll be back!

I'll be heading back to the UK at the end of the month. Looking forward to playing my first ever shows in Scotland and Wales!

August 2008

This is a busy and great time for touring! I just returned from Bogota, Colombia where there's a strong scene for authentic roots Jamaica music. My hosts were Freedom Sounds, who did a fantastic job of promoting the show and keeping me out of trouble.
www.myspace.com/freedommusicbogota

Next on the agenda - Chris Murray Combo leaves next week for our third Japan tour and also two dates in Seoul, Korea!!

After that I'll be back in the UK for the Ruff & Ready Tour along with Sonic Boom Six, JB Conspiracy and Chief. After Ruff & Ready I'll be staying on for a week of solo dates.

The video for Love Flame is now finished and available for viewing on YouTube. Big thanks to Jay Mack, who put a ton of work into Love Flame and it turned out great!!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhA8MBP-vqY

July 2008

Wow, I have a ton of gigs and cool traveling coming up. In August, I go to Bogota, Colombia for the first time, where I'll be backed by La Severa Matacera, a Colombian band that lived in LA for some time and played at Bluebeat a couple of times. In September, CMC goes to Japan for the third time and also to Korea for the first time. In October, I'll be back in the UK for the Ruff & Ready tour w/Sonic Boom Six, JB Conspiracy and Chief, then staying on for a week of solo shows.

When I look at my schedule, I know I'm very lucky to be able to travel the world playng my music. Thanks to everyone who makes that possible - including you!

June 2008

Why So Rude is here!! To order - www.unstrictlyroots.com!!

May 2008

Big news - the debut Chris Murray Combo album, Why So Rude, is back from manufacturing!!

In more big news, Bluebeat Lounge is switching to Wednesday night starting in June. Thanks to everyone who has supported Bluebeat through five and a half years of Tuesday nights. Looking forward to many great Wednesday nights to come.

The Why So Rude release party will happen on Wednesday, June 4 in the front bar at Knitting Factory. More details on the bill coming very soon.

To pre-order through the Unstrictly Roots website - click here!!

March 2008

The year has been a busy one already. The Bluebeat Lounge 5th Anniversary show was an amazing night and sold out!! I spent two weeks touring in Brazil with Firebug, an excellent band from Sao Paulo. I just came back from headlining Block Party 2008 in New Orleans. Next on the travel agenda is a return to Mexico for my first ever Monterrey show.

The CMC album, Why So Rude, is being prepared for an April release in Japan through Ska In The Word Records. I'm projecting a similar release schedule here through Unstrictly Roots. I'll definitely keep everyone posted regarding the new album. It sounds great!!

November 2007

I haven't really become more frequent with my news updates, but here's what's happening these days. Chris Murray Combo recently recorded an album with Victor Rice while he was in town. Victor will be mixing the tracks in Brazil in January and we're projecting the release will happen around April. CMC is very excited to have recorded an album, and we're planning to do some touring in 2008!!

Bluebeat Lounge is closing in on 5 years of shows - incredible!! Stay tuned for the announcement of the 5th Anniversary bill. It will be a great night.

Looking back on 2007, I'd like to thank Regatta 69, King Django, Dr. Ring Ding and Motha Nature for all the crazy times on Ska Mutiny. Thanks also to Steve Borth and Satori for the good times in England, and One Night Band for a great tour across Canada this fall.

February 2007

Someone pointed out to me that I hadn't updated my news section for a long time, so I'm correcting that now. The reason for no recent updates is so much going on rather than nothing to report.

The biggest news is that I'm starting up a small label, Unstrictly Roots, partnering with Robin Strauss, who has been helping me with Bluebeat Lounge for the past few years. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time, and the time has come.

The first release will be Slackness, the album I recorded with The Slackers, which is currently available only in Japan. Slackness will pressed in time for The Skatalites show at Knitting Factory on Tuesday March 13. The label website is being constructed and more news and announcements will be forthcoming soon.

The second release, due out in April, will be for Rizorkestra, a blues oriented artist who performs an incredible solo act. I can't say enough about Riz. I hope you'll all check out his fantastic album once it's pressed.

I took a few cool trips in the fall, to British Columbia, Hawaii and Mexico. In particular, my trip to Mexico was intense. There's a blog about Mexico on my myspace page detaling some of my experiences. Most recently, I played in Montreal, Toronto and St. Catharines. Thanks to everyone who came out and made the shows such a great time.

Upcoming tour plans include UK dates with Satori in April and Europe dates with Regatta 69, King Django and Dr. Ring Ding late April through May. It feels like forever since I've been in Europe. I'm really looking forward to the trip. Tour dates will be posted as soon as avalable.

So, that's what's up with me right now.

July 2006

There's not a lot of news to report. I decided to keep off the road for a while. I'd been on the road almost constantly for two years and it was time to be at home a little.

I've been putting a lot of energy into writing songs, both on my own and with other writers. Some great songs have come of this. Over the years I've found that, for me, waves of writing activity come and go. Right now I'm in a wave of heavy writing, so I'm just going with that.

In June, I had the remarkable privilege of hosting rehearsals with Alton Ellis, Pat Kelly and Rico Rogriguez in my home.

I expect to on the road again sometime this fall, but there's nothing solid to report at this time. Have a great summer!

February 2006

Again, life is good. I just came back from a week in Brazil and a week in Argentina. It was an incredible experience.

In January I participated in the first ever ska festival in Brazil. It was a three day event and all three shows sold out. The Slackers headlined the first two nights. On the third night, I played a collaborative set with Victor Rice and Firebug, an excellent Brazilian roots ska band. We were also joined by Vic Ruggiero and Dave Hillyard for several songs. It was a wonderful musical moment.

Click here for video of The Real Ska!!

The following day Firebug, The Slackers and I played to a sold out venue in Rio de Janeiro. Again, an amazing experience.

The next week I played three shows in and around Buenos Aires, Argentina. All the shows were excellent and unique. One was at a local weekly dub night. Another, with Satelite Kingston, was in a sweaty basement punk club so packed 100 people had to be turned away - intense!! The final show was an ultra-relaxed backyard party where I played with three local singer-songwriters. Todo fue muy bueno.

Big thanks to Bruno, Rodrigo, Victor Rice and Firebug in Sao Paulo, and Daniel Flores and Satelite Kingston in Buenos Aires, and to all the other great friends, old and new, on my trip. I'll be back soon!

December 2005

Life is good. Bluebeat Lounge is rapidly approaching the three year mark. Details on the 3rd Anniversary show, featuring The Debonaires, Buck-O-Nine, Chris Murray Combo, Satori, The Phenomenauts and Soul Captives, are listed in the tour dates section.

Shortly after Christmas I head to frosty Fort Morgan, CO for two weeks to produce an album for rock-ska monsters Synthetic Elements. I'll be braving the elements in more ways than one!

Later in January, I'm going to Brazil to take part in the first ever Brazilian ska festival, which will also include performances by The Slackers, Desorden Publico, Victor Rice and Firebug!! More details coming soon.

August 2005

This has been a great summer. CMC just returned from our second Japan tour, which was fantastic. The highlight was definitely playing the Fuji Rock Festival - what an incredible experience!! Thanks to Akira, Nobuhiro, Hide and Hiroshi for all their support.

CMC also just returned from the second annual High Desert Ska Fest in Grand Junction, CO. Again - a great experience. Big thanks to John Haberkorn, whose perserverence has made the HDSF possible these past two years.

A collaborative track featuring Chris Murray and Dub City Rockers is now available online for your listening pleasure. While I was in the UK with RX Bandits last fall I visited the home studio of DCR mastermind, Frantic, and laid down a quick vocal and guitar take of We Do The Ska. Frantic took it from there. You'll be surprised!! To download for free - click here.

March 2005

The past six months have been the busiest I can remember. Thanks to everyone who helped make it possible.

Big ups to Planet Smashers, who have now completed their sixth album!! The album title is yet to be determined - expect a release date in May.

This month Slackness was released in Japan on Ska In The World Records!! Featuring excellent performances by members of The Slackers and yours truly, Slackness delivers 12 fabulous tracks ranging from reggae, rock steady and ska to rock and beyond. This is one release you will not want to miss. Information on European and US releases will be available shortly.

More Japan news for March, a studio recording of Rock Steady was included on the compilation, "The 3rd Era Of Ska - North American Ska Collection", released by Justa Records. Tracks were selected Tsuyoshi Kawakami of Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra.

Congratulations to Hawaiian Express Records on the release of "Roots Rock Reggae", a various artist collection complied to benefit the Kkua Hawaii Foundation. A live version of Rock Steady featuring Go Jimmy Go members on backing vocals follows a previously unreleased live version of Wasting Time by Jack Johnson - shoots bradda!

January 2005

Happy New Year!! Since the last update I've toured Europe twice, playing in England, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Austria, Czech Republic, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Spain. What an incredible experience!!

There are so many people deserving of thanks, but special thanks go to Lol and Sonia at Moon Ska Europe, RX Bandits, Ian Armstrong at Hidden Talent Booking, Ossi and everyone at Moskito Promotions, Dr. Ring-Ding, Soul Food International, Rotterdam Ska/Jazz Foundation and The Bust-Ups.

In October 2004, Moon Ska Europe released Chris Murray - One Everything, a "best of" collection including tracks from all my previous solo releases, rare and unreleased material, plus the videos for "Rock Steady" and "Switchblade To Soul". If I say so myself, it's an excellent package. Expect a North American release some time in 2005.
www.moonskaeurope.com

This month marks the two year anniversary for Bluebeat Lounge - amazing!! The celebration will be happening in the Knitting Factory main space on Saturday, January 22 featuring The Aggrolites, Chris Murray Combo, Unsteady, Irie Beats and Los Hooligans. Bring your dancing shoes!!

Through February I'll be in frosty Montreal producing the next Planet Smashers album. It's been a long time since we recorded Life Of The Party. I'm really looking forward to working with the band again.

The DVD for the "Bluebeat Lounge Goes OC" show is now finished. Copies will be available at the Bluebeat Lounge 2nd Anniversary show Saturday, January 22.
www.sluggoproductions.com

In February, a live version of "Rock Steady" featuring vocal backing by Bison, Ian and Tino of Go Jimmy Go plus Angel of The Phenomenauts will be included on the compilation release "Roots Rock Reggae: Hawaiian Islands". This collection, compiled by Jason Miller at Hawaiian Express Records, features a wide array of Hawaiian and Hawaii-connected artists. Proceeds from sales go to the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, a newly launched non-profit organization that supports environmental educational and community programs that advocate sustainable living in Hawaii.

October 2004

Big ups to western Canada for all the love on the Ska Is Dead tour with Planet Smashers, Catch 22, Mustard Plug and Dan Potthast. Good to see so many old and new faces. I'll be back as soon as I can.

The fall touring frenzy continues with a 5 week tour of Europe supporting RX Bandits 10/25-11/24. I'm looking forward to it!!

September 2004

Chris Murray Combo conquers Japan!!! Serious thanks to everybody who helped make this happen, especially Akira at Ska In The World, Akira's mom, Nobuhiro at Disk Union, Hide, Hiroshi, Toshimi, Naoko, all the promoters and all the great bands we played with.

Our first show was the 8th Annual Tokyo Ska Craze festival, which sold out at 3000 paid!! What an incredible experience. In the festival's eight years, CMC is the first foreign act to play. We are truly honored. Japan - we'll see you again next summer.

Late August saw the Japanese release of "Chris Murray - Collected", a retrospective and rarities album, on Ska In The World Records. October 18 is the European release date for "One Everything", a similar retrospective and rarities package including the videos for Rock Steady and Switchblade To Soul, on Moon Ska Europe.

October continues the touring frenzy with western Canada dates with Planet Smashers, Catch 22 and Mustard Plug on the Ska Is Dead tour. Following Canada, I'll be touring Europe with RX Bandits for a month, then playing another week of solo shows around the UK.

June 2004

Things are rockin' for Chris Murray Combo. We are gigging like crazy and have started recording an album. Check the tour dates page for a date near you.

Recent CMC highlights include three shows with the legendary Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, who are incredible!

Mahalos to the folks at Fox, who recently licensed three of my songs for their fabulous TV show The North Shore. Is it time to get cable?

April 2004

March and April have been a whirlwind of live shows. Thanks to everyone who came out and made them such a good time. Special highlights include the Mexico tour, which was amazing beyond my highest hopes. Muchas gracias to Chema, his family, Carlos and Ruffi for their excellent hospitality.

Hawaii was also excellent, apart from taking 25 stitches to the head after a nasty shark incident at Sandy Beach. Mahalos to Go Jimmy Go for their always spectacular vibes.

Bluebeat Lounge is now in its 16th month of great shows - unbelievable!!

Chris Murray Combo is in its 8th month of operation. Many thanks to Ben and Jeff for being so cool on so many levels. CMC is planning to record an album in the months to come and will also be playing with Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra in both San Francisco and LA in June, and at the Summer Of Ska festival in OC in August.

Vic Ruggiero is soon to begin the final mixing sessions for the album recorded with The Slackers. I can't wait to hear the results. Thanks to Vic and The Slackers for their involvement.

Last but not least, "Heartache" was recently used on the popular television program The OC. As I don't have a TV myself, I'll have to take everyone's word that it was used tastefully. It's nice when that kind of thing happens.

February 2004

It's been a busy month so far. I spent five days in Vancouver doing preproduction with Los Furios, an excellent band you'll be hearing more about in the future. We'll be recording their first album later this spring.

CMC just got back from a great weekend in Utah. Thanks to Insatiable for bringing us out to SLC and congratulations on the new release.

Over the next three weeks I'll be playing in California, Utah(again), Arizona, Hawaii and making my first tour to Mexico. Who needs sleep?

January 2004

The new year is here, and it's going great already. Chris Murray Combo will be making their first out of state appearances in February with some dates in Utah. Other places - we'll get there soon.

The Bluebeat Lounge anniversary show in the Knitting Factory main space was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who came out and had a good time. Thanks again to everyone who has been part of the Bluebeat Lounge experience. Show pics are posted at www.bluebeatlounge.com

The sessions with The Slackers in December were also very successful and a full album of material with Slackers members backing me on my songs is now recorded. Producer Vic Ruggiero will be mixing the tracks as schedules permit. Big ups to Vic, The Slackers, Django at Version City and Ira at Jammyland. It couldn't have happened without all of you.

The UK tour in December was fantastic. I started with two shows in Ireland, then played a week with The Toasters, finishing up with a handful of sundry dates through England. Thanks to The Toasters, Solabeat Alliance, Flying Marrows and all the other great acts I gigged with. Special thanks to Patrick Carayannis, Bucket, and Lol and Sonia at Moon Ska Europe for taking such great care of me while I was across the pond.

Photos from the Moon Ska Europe all-dayer in London are posted at www.ska-pics.de. I'll be back for another UK tour in May.

The 4-Track Adventures is now available after being out of print for three years. For the first time since 1995, everything I've ever released is currently available - awesome!!

In very recent news, thanks to Roger Rivas for giving me lessons on updating websites. From now on, I'll be updating the site myself, which I'm very excited about.

Stay tuned for more news soon. Hope 2004 is good to you all.

November 2003

There's a lot going on these days, a whole heap a ting mon.

Bluebeat Lounge enters its 11th month rockin' harder than ever!! Thanks to all the bands and performers, everyone who has come out for the good times, and to all the folks at Knitting Factory.

This month, I return to New York to complete an album with The Slackers backing me. It's taken a while for this project to fit everyone's schedule, but the time is at hand. Look for these recordings to be released some time in 2004.

In late November, my solo debut, The 4-Track Adventures Of Venice Shoreline Chris, will be reissued on Asian Man Records in the US and Moon Ska Europe in Europe. This title has been out of print since Moon Records NYC closed its doors a few years ago. The rerelease will include an enhanced video track for "Rock Steady", and also features such smash hits as Ex-Darling and Cooper Station Blues (aka "the Moon Records song").
